Hello beautiful people! I would like to introduce to you all who I am. I am a proud Black Deaf advocate, a single mother, a college student, and a self-taught hairstylist. I am pursuing my education at J. Sargeant Reynolds for an early childhood education and Deaf studies degree. I loveeeee nature! I love spending quality time with my two young children. I enjoy socializing with the Deaf community. My biggest goal is to set up an inclusive daycare in Richmond for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deafblind children.

Kathy

Hello, I am Kathy! I’m a fun, energetic, and faith-centered mom of three boys, happily married to my wonderful husband, James.

I’ve spent several years working with Deaf campers as a counselor, and I’m fluent in sign language.

I love staying active, building connections, and making camp a joyful and meaningful experience for everyone. Originally from El Salvador, I moved to the U.S. when I was 9 and am proud to be here. I can’t wait to make more amazing camp memories!

Where LANGUAGE matters!

Visit HERE for Deaf Resources

The Signs of Fun logo brings together two powerful symbols in American Sign Language. The handshape represents the sign for “camp” combined with the “I Love You” (ILY) handshape, a widely recognized sign of connection in the Deaf community. At the center is a campfire, symbolizing the joy, friendship, and memories created at summer camp. Together, the symbol reflects the heart of Signs of Fun: a place where Deaf children connect, communicate, and belong.
